forgetfulrainn- ok, i agree 'ranting' was probably too strong a term, but you two do seem to be agreeing violently alot over the conversation, which to me implies that nothing is really being discussed. I didn't mean to offend you personally. My main complaint is with MistedTeacup, who seems to have come here purely to attack Eliot rather than admire your work.

On your point about the priest, It's a little different to this as Eliot (and many other artists with bad morals) didn't claim to be moral authors, at least in his artistic work. By a man's work shall ye now him.

On the point of passion, I stand by what I said, but to expand, I think its more a place of misplaced passion. many great artists often took the humanity that they should have applied to those around them and put it in their art, leaving them deficient and thus fairly detatched, even abusive. Had Eliot been a better, more caring husband, he may not have been able to vent such belief into his written work. It's not an excuse, but at least an understanding.

While we're on the subject though, your discussion has led me to see Eliot as a far more duel-natured figure than I did before, and this really adds to the depth of your art, with its mixture of darkness and light! And any work that challenges my previous conceptions is worthy of praise :)
