"Violent Narcissism"

Blue stands for sky.
White stands for snow.
Stanley stands for inability to comprehend the psychological existence of others.
Gwendoline stands for victim of the former.
---------------------------------------------------------------------

French translation for my mother:

<< Stan, ça fait mal. >>

<< Menteur, j'ai rien senti! >>

*pays Gwen a visit and brings an overrated fruit basket gift* No plan to continue the comic, huh? They were interesting all the same. :)

I commend you for being brave enough to share your personal experiences with a mental illness. When I found out I had a problem, everyone around me treated it like it was a secret to be brought to the grave. The stigma here is terrible; it's made me become somewhat... ashamed about it. And they'd tell me "Try not to think about it", or worse, they say "It's all in your head".

As much as I'd like to believe that I can overcome it, it wasn't something that could just happen through sheer will. Drugs & medication suddenly became a sensitive issue, with a faction saying it wasn't necessary, and the other being agreeable. Since when were they qualified doctors to be giving out medical advices? I paid no heed to them and just brushed it off; flustered with their ignorance and inappropriately-placed concern. If the doctor said I needed it, then I need it. End of. Uh, this turned out to be a rant instead. Apologies.

Anyway, as I was saying, thank you for sharing this personal experience. I could never be brave enough to do something like this, even with anonimity. But what you've done here, has made a statement to me. Thank you. :)

You're most welcome!

And no worries about "ranting", I totally appreciate it, and don't consider it a rant at all!

I stopped AA because I was getting increasingly upset with my lack of skills - I couldn't draw half the stuff I wanted to. I still have new characters and mini plots in my notebooks but until further advice, AA is inactive.

And yeah, I can relate to your situation. Love it how people suddenly get a Ph.D in applied psychiatry just because they know you... It's especially annoying around people who generally bring everything down to THEIR experience of life. These people think of things like depression as "just like when I'm sad, but somewhat worse, perhaps", and it's not that at all. And I know we can't blame them because they can't just guess, but educating them about it isn't always easy.

And yes about sheer will: it's not enough. Sheer will can help, of course, but if you're serious about getting better, you'll take all the available help.

I'm really glad that you like AA and found it to be significant. I myself enjoyed taking those deadly serious things and making light of them, without dismissing them.

Thank you!

"just like when I'm sad, but somewhat worse, perhaps"
I've gotten remarks before about being overdramatic, and some go so far as to say that I was faking my condition. I was stunned: aren't the appointments and medicine proof enough? Am I just shitting out money for a circus show? I got so slighted by their conclusion that I didn't talk to them for a year.

Regarding AA, I especially liked the part where you explained the pumpkin scarecrow's (Stanley?) condition. That was really informative :)

Yeah, that's why I typically say nothing of what my condition is. It's never a discussion for the family, and one wouldn't guess about it, except for when I have really bad phases, which hasn't happened in a while (at least not to the extremities they once reached).

At least, being in the snow and all, Gwen's head probably won't suffer that much after that blow with the hammer. Just keep it plunged there for a few more minutes, buddy.

tu parles français? çá va? oujur du i ma mere fait un chateu avec le poison, et les pompieres avont à la dernier fois mangé le gateu on la plasse.

this is all the french i can remember from my torture french classes back in 9th grade.
I have french uncles and cousins, been too french too(lol...i mean, france)...loved everything but the language.

(i used to plot on burning france to the ground......shhhh.....i still have the plans out there somewhere)

your comic is getting more and more intricate, the concept of, i didn`t feel so, it mustent have hurted, is complicated, lol.
i liked it, sound philosophical.

Haha, thank you! And I just have to translate your French... You actually said:

"You speak French? Howdie? Today my mother makes a castle with the poison, and the firemen have the last time eaten the cake on the place."

And yes, I speak French, it's my mother-tongue, and the tongue of my mother, who speaks no English.

I'm quite a philosophical person! And more precisely, the inability of psychopaths to have any empathy and sympathy comes from the fact that they can't imagine that someone else has the same sort of existence as they have (in terms of psychology), which means they can't think (for real) that someone else feels pain or is sad or this or that. They're everything in the world to themselves; like babies, who are too young to even realise that the world and them are two separate entities. That's how I see Stanley; he isn't really mean, he just doesn't understand reality, and he's not being sarcastic in this strip, he's serious! If it doesn't hurt him, then there's no hurt at all!

Thanks for the comment!

Not my place, but that is the nature of psychopaths and sociopaths. Can read Frecnch and generally understand it, but never got a hand on the masculnity and feminity of words. But I can write things Like: Je m'appelle Put2, un (Une?) petit chat qui se dit "Je suis un loupgiroux dans la nuit, et quand le c'est une nouvelle lune , je trognon et mugir. ....or
Allez, mes citoyens!
Formez, vos battaillons!
or...
Le jour de leve est arrive!
Or Joyeux noel
Or Marchon, marchon, pour Liberte
Or: Les Filles de Francaise est tres beau et jolie! (When they are). Maintenant,
décrire s'il vous plaît les essence de la grande chat Put2:
Elle es noir et blanc, mais son essence éclat semblable à tamisée or, mais son griffe et dents êtes pointu. Avec ses dents elle morsures les orteils de une hippo

I tell you most solemny....pumkinhead must be destroyed. Give the patients 24 oz framing hammers and beat him down so bad he'll never get up again, then put him in a large Husky trash bag, seal it and throw it into the nearest dumpster. If it's good enough for the Hell's Angels, it should be good enough for Gwen. That will cure him of his violent sociopathic enterprises.

Ahaha, who would have thunk that a plot such as "Stan sneaks behind Gwen and pelts him with a sledge-hammer" would ever be described as intellectual? But yeah, I try to fill this stuff with delicious intelligenceness. And it's supposed to be a psychiatric comic! Psychiacomics!
