Rectal leaking seems to be the most appealing feature of this new medicine, but giving birth to Stalin is also a consumation devoutly to be wished. I'd say combine the two and you have a real solid product. I'd be glad to add that to my list of new and existing pharmaceuticals.

Many good and few excellent pharmaceuticals are imported to the US from Switzerland. I'm prepared to Order 10,000 units of this miracle drug today, and based on test-marketing will order more before Jan 1. But I believe that you have yourself a real solid product. Real solid!

After reading some of the other comments posted here I felt compelled to write something... It's nice to see a comic that deals with these issues. I've never been put on antidepressants or diagnosed with anything but one of my parents has dealt with depression their whole life, and it seems that half the battle is finding the proper medication in the proper dosage and a proper psychiatrist. After 39 years and several experiences with different medications and treatments they're only just starting to understand what works with their depression and what doesn't. I don't know what it's like in Switzerland but pills are advertised as the solution to everything over here, which is depressing (pun? >_>;) because it makes finding the right medication and a doctor who understands the intricacies of mental illness difficult. Not to mention the stigma attached to depression. :/

So yeah, kudos to you and this comic! :strong:

Thanks very much for that comment! And yes, finding the right medication and/or therapist is a long hard road. It takes a long time to know whether a medication works, at least 8 weeks, and it can be very hard to stay on them, and quite despairing to have to quit one, to get on another, because these things are serious drugs - "it's not flour" as my doctor likes to say - and so you get addicted to everyone of them. Quitting them makes you go through withdrawal, with all new side-effects, which are like what a heroin addict goes through and the likes!

I'm really happy about your comment, because while I try to make those cartoons as funny as they can be, I know that the world they come from is not funny at all. And if I can help anyone with those problems by means of this little cartoon, then that would be awesome; I know they help me a bit.

Pills aren't advertised here, I've never seen advertising for antidepressants, but for the most part I actually differ from most doctors about them; I see depression the way I see schizophrenia or other mental disorders, and unlike doctors, I don't think it's always a traumatic experience in one's life that causes this disorder. Everyone goes through hard things, so naturally, therapist always find something in the past to say "that's why you're depressed!" but that's too easy, and unrealistic. Sometimes a depression is just like diabetes, it's not your fault, it just happens, and there's a treatment for it which you have to take.

And the stigma... that's the hardest part. People who know nothing about depression tend to think they can know what it's like because they have been sad "too"; whereas they don't feel the same about other mental disorders, like schizophrenia, because they never heard voices in their heads. But that's a mistake from them; depression isn't "being sad", it's not even being "depressed". It's much worse than that, and it's absolutely horrible for a truly depressive person to be told to "cheer up" and that's it's their fault. That's why depression needs a lot more advertising than AIDS, everyone knows of AIDS, but most people don't really know what depression is in effect, and more people die from depression than AIDS.

Thanks again for your comment! It's MUCH appreciated!

The advertising for drugs here in North America is incredible- there's commercials and magazine ads all over the place for antidepressants. Of course the commercials are geared towards the patients, not the doctors. Usually the commercial lists a bunch of symptoms of depression, and then says "if you have any of these symptoms, you may have depression! Ask your doctor about this drug today, it may be for you!" That's verbatim, by the way. Of course, everyone goes through sad periods in their life, so you start getting people who don't have depression diagnosing themselves, and then doctors who don't know better prescribing them drugs. Before you know it, you're addicted to a drug that you didn't need in the first place :(

I get the impression that pharmaceutical companies are more interested in selling a product than actually researching ways to improve antidepressants. :/ Hopefully the focus will shift to the well being of patients one day.

It really bothers me when people blame patients for their mental illness. The brain is an organ just like any other organ, so if you can have problems with your other organs why not with your brain? They've done MRIs of schizophrenics; they show that there's an excess amount of fluid pressing on the the front of the brain... Yet still some people *still* think that mental illness is the patient's choice. With something like depression, it's easy to see how an outsider might misunderstand it, but schizophrenia? When's the last time you willed yourself to hallucinate? (I actually had this argument with someone, they didn't believe drugs were necessary for anyone, including schizophrenics.)

Despite all of this, it seems like there's been a slowly growing acceptance of depression in the last few years, and with that there will come a desire to understand it better, so maybe better treatments aren't that far off. :)

And I'm glad you appreciate this comment! Your conversations are always so intelligent!

Thank you! :D

It's very true that the pharmaceutic (?) industry cares more for making money than helping people; otherwise you'd not get those medication that cost 100 bucks a pill!!! That is so crazy! And there's no rational reason to have the medication so expensive, since they're all made synthetically and easily, or so I understand.

Hard to believe that someone would misunderstand the nature of mental illness so much as to believe schizophrenia is an act of the will... Better stay away from that person myself... Might be a scientologist!

Thanks for writing me excellent comments like this!

Thank you! My personal favourite, among many, is the "pulmonary psychosis of the left leg", hahaha, it still cracks me up. The sad thing, though, is that 90% of the side-effects I listed were taken from my own medication... I can't believe the amount of terrible things they list! They put EVERYTHING down, just in case something happens to you, they got it covered and can say "we warned" you.

And the best is that ANTIDEPRESSANTS may cause DEPRESSION... How absolutely fantastic is this? Sedative pills' side-effects include ANXIETY and PANIC ATTACKS! Is that some serious sense of humour? Half the shit you're trying to fight is a RISK with these medications! It's crazy; not mentioning the no less crazy PRICE of the goddam things.

Yeah! I've noticed the side effects of that mind chemical altering shit...that's why your strip was so goddamn hilarious, is that I know they really do list a lot of that shit..it's asinine! It's like, damn...maybe I'm just better off depressed...shit...all I know is...is if I was told to take meds, and if I were a man, and they told me...well...it might cause impotence...I dont' think I'd take em! I'd need my cock happy!!!Haha!

Yeah, it's a bit of a bummer... I know people who gave up because they couldn't live through a sexless period. Bad enough that they're in a depressive phase, they must know abandon all orgasms! Instead of such lists, they should write: "It will get much worse before it gets better." and that would be sufferable.

Yeah, that's a good line, it's true after all...I had experience with that kindof thing when I was taking adderol in replacement of speed...it's supposed to be like riddlin but stronger or something...to help wound up kids focus or something...yeah..ADD meds...but that shit was some good speed! And eventually I learned more about the drug...and realized taht I was suffering from all of it's horrible side effects...AND I was abusing the drug, so the side effects were intensified...after I quit, I was like...man...if I legitimately needed the drug, or had to dispense it to my kid, I don't think I would...that stuff is kind of evil! And the sid eeffects don't go away with time, with some of those meds...I suppose you just have to determine if the benefits outweight the drawbacks....I have work to do..but I'm too enthralled reading over our notes! haha!!!

Some medications are pretty scary indeed. The first time I got put on antidepressants, I wasn't warned of anything, or almost, and I wrongly attributed lots of symptoms to the depression, which in fact were caused by the medication! My personal side-effects included severe tremblings, electric headaches, extended periods of zombieness after intake (around 4 or 5 hours), and the likes.

Thank you! I was very proud of this one, and it's the FIRST really 100% new strip I make since 2006. Everything here was new, from the idea, to the drawings, to everything. Good omen! And thanks for the fav!

....rash, death!

how serious is the mathematic ability?....that is sick!!!!!!

I really admire your script making.
But the drawing should somewhat...i don`t know...you should try different things.

Any hows, how about start making a story with head and toes and all in between?

Just keep up, your doing it great.

:+fav:

About the cartoon, the man is a bit bad drawn (take no offense), but in the context of the drawing it looks cool. But there is something missing, i don`t know what....do you get what i mean? I`m not trying to say to draw better, cause it looks really cool this way, for the kind of comic it is. (take for example happy noodle boy from johen vaskez, total crap, but cool). But i don`t know...something`s missing.

Anyhow keep up the awesome scrip writing and cartoon.looks quite cool.

Thanks! The math ability I made up, because I think being good at maths makes you an evil person, and you'd rather have any of the other side-effects than being good at maths, for the sake of your own soul.

You're criticising my style sir? Rome wasn't built in a day! And given my limited abilities, I do what I can, and try to find my voice within that area. Be patient! I can't go experimental before I established a basic style of my own; this is only 11 strips into this universe, I'll keep working it that way until it feels solid enough to begin experimenting hardcore, but no worries, I have lots of experimental ideas in store. The main thing is that I'm not capable of drawing very complicated things, or positions, or places; I'm no drawer. And yeah, the pharmacist looks very simple, and badly drawn if you want, but I think he looks just right!

And don't expect a story that follows itself before quite some time! I already explained to you that I will go back and forth in the timeline; I have no choice! But you'll always have the indication of when the episode takes place. As to a series of strips that connect to each other, I will work on that when I finished the older ideas I have in store.

If I ever make enough of those strips, I'll make a little book which will be available for the fans! And in that volume, the strips will be in timely order and everything!

Thanks for the comment and appreciation of my writing skills!
